Well, "The End" might be a bit dramatic, but "Seattlest: Going Away For A Bit" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

Signing Off: The End Of Seattlest
Countdown in Photos #31: Drew Grow and the Pastor's Wives
This is the very last post I'll be writing for Seattlest. It's bittersweet, but a good time to move on to new things. The final photo in my countdown is Drew Grow and the Pastor's Wives at Musicfest Northwest. There's a good reason I chose this band as my last photo, check out why.
The Migration Of Our Voices
Only a couple of entries left before things wind down for a good long while. Once that happens, you might like to know where it is you can find the voices you've become accustomed to reading on our site.
Music: More Than a Sum of Its Notes
As music editor for Seattlest over the last couple years, I've learned a lot. Mostly about local music but also about sharing what you love with others, the power of friendship and community and most importantly about myself. This is my goodbye (and hello) to all of you, our loyal readers. You've done more for me than I can say and hope to hear from you and speak to you in the future about the universal language of music.
Ron Paul Nation Rallies Behind Kelly Clarkson
Former American Idol winner and Toyota saleswoman Kelly Clarkson tweeted about her love for Ron Paul this week, pledging to vote for him if he wins the Republican presidential nomination. As a result, many of her followers attacked her, sending her a barrage of angry tweets. But the Ron Paul Nation is nothing if not fiercely loyal, and they had her back in a big way as sales of her latest album surged because of her support for Paul. As one Amazon user wrote, "I have been a Kelly Clarkson fan for many years, however this is the first album I have purchased of hers. I am doing so to show my appreciation of her support for Ron Paul. I am hopeful that her continued support will allow other artists to show their support as well! RON PAUL 2012!"
Video: Christie Warns Iowa To Vote For Romney, Or Else
The remaining Republican presidential candidates are pulling out all the stops to try to convince people they actually like one of them. Newt Gingrich has learned to cry, Ron Paul has harnessed the power of the Kelly Clarkson Nation, and Mitt Romney has now put all his eggs in one incredibly heavy, charismatic New Jersey basket. During an appearance in Iowa on Romney's behalf yesterday, NJ Gov. Chris Christie laid down the law with the crowd: "Let me tell you, if you people disappoint me on Tuesday, if you don't do what you're supposed to do on Tuesday for Mitt Romney, I will be back—Jersey style, people. I will be back."
After 9/11 Memorial Gun Arrest, NY Pols Wonder If Gun Laws Are Too Strict
After a Tennessee resident was arrested on felony gun possession charges after checking her 0.38-caliber gun in at the National 9/11 Memorial, NY State politicians are now wondering if our gun laws are maybe a little too much. Medical student Meredith Graves did have a permit to carry the gun in Tennessee, but she didn't have a permit to carry it in New York (because that's what all tourists need in New York—their own guns), so she was in jail for days, including Christmas. And her plight has touched even Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.

Extra Extra: And So It Goes...
Predictably, the newsmakers in Seattle have slowed down a bit, as if in anticipation of New Year's Eve. A little breather before the work of the new year begins in earnest. What did happen today is reminiscent of the last episode in a given season of The Wire: loose ends are being tied down, and the seeds for the next chapter are being sown.
Sketches of a Year: A Farewell to 2011, and to Seattlest
A year ago, when Seattlest's Amy Mikel and Allecia Vermillion pulled me back into writing about theater after a decade's absence, I was uncertain what I could possibly do to help things. I am now no longer uncertain.
Countdown in Photos #30: Bryan John Appleby
Bryan John Appleby is unadulterated talent, through and through. His piercing and emotionally charged voice doesn't need strength to carry it to the back of the room. He is, simply put, beautiful. His lyrics bring tears to your eyes no matter how many times you hear them. Morgen has been following his career for a couple years and couldn't think of leaving him off her countdown list.
Banana-Sam, Missing S.F. Zoo Squirrel Monkey, Is Now Tweeting His Adventures
The story of Banana-Sam, the Squirrel Monkey reported missing from the San Francisco Zoo earlier today, seems to have taken the city by storm on this slow news day. Like any good viral sensation, this one has it's very own twitter account from which we can track Banana-Sam's crosstown exploits. If the little fella is to be believed (and why wouldn't we trust a tweeting monkey?), security out there at the Zoo was "laughably simple" to breach, but he still had to wait an hour for the L-Taraval before he could escape the Outer Sunset.
Remember the Alamo: UW Falls Short in Exciting Bowl Appearance
It was one for the record books, but Washington fell just short of back-to-back bowl wins in last night's showdown with Baylor in the Alamo Bowl.
Angry Internet Wins! Verizon Won't Institute $2 "Convenience" Fee
Never mind then! Just like Netflix with its aborted Qwikster brand, Verizon Wireless has decided to nix its wildly panned plan to charge a $2 "convenience fee" to those users who wanted to pay their bill month-to-month with a credit card online or on their phone.
