Extra Extra: Christmas Eve Eve Doldrums

If we thought it was a slow news period earlier this week, it was positively glacially paced today. Not that there was a dearth of things going on, there were even noteworthy developments and events, but one had to go digging for them in order to find anything to talk about. To whit:

Let's get the unpleasant business out of the way: The King County Sheriff's office has released a sketch of the man suspected of attempting to rape a 13 year old girl in Burien earlier this week. [Seattle PI]

Tukwila police used pepper spray in order to disperse a group of zealous shoppers who nearly came to riot over the ability to purchase the newly arrived Air Jordans. Demand for the new shoe model is such that they are being sold online for over 100% above retail value. [News Tribune]

The city of Mercer Island has enacted a new ordinance that will penalize the parents of underage drinkers, if the transgression is taking place on the parents' property, regardless of whether they had foreknowledge or not. [KOMO]

Finally, starting in the spring of 2013, the Greyhound Bus company will have to find a new home for its Seattle bus depot, as the owner of the building on Stewart plans on re-developing the property (because what we need is more condos). Possible destination? The King Street Station, which, along with AmTrack and the proposed plan to move the former tenants of 619 Western to its top floor, would make the building one of the busiest multi-purpose sites in the city. Consolidating transportation options is a good idea and this is one step toward that. Trains only go so many places and buses take the passenger the rest of the way.

The whole sneaker fetish just doesn't make sense to me. I realize the players are role models, but it sets a poor example for what should be important.

Great picture and items that would be very useful at the beach.
