Can't Miss It: Tuesday

FILM CRAFT: SIFF Cinema's Film Craft Commentary series is a monthly series devoted to deepening audience appreciation of the complex art of filmmaking. Professional film artists provide live audio commentary about their particular craft throughout a film of their choice. Tonight local cinematographer, Ben Kasulke, will lead the audience through the "exquisite visual landscape" of Michael Winterbottom's Code 46. Shot with two cinematographers working together, Winterbottom's 2003 film is love story set in a Brave New World-type future. Ben Kasulke will offer a brief introduction to the cinematographer's craft, before embarking on his live audio commentary throughout the film, and conclude with an audience/artist Q&A.

7 pm // SIFF Cinema at the Film Center, Seattle Center House (next to the Vera Project) // $5 - $10

THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR: Now is definitely the time to get your holiday movie fix. For me, it just doesn't feel like the holidays until I watch It's A Wonderful Life. I usually watch it on TV (like they did in the good ol' days), but this year I may skip the pesky commercials and head down to the University District's Grand Illusion Cinema. The Grand Illusion has been playing Frank Capra's heartwarming classic about George Bailey and the little-town-that-could each December for more than 40 years! On the other hand, if black-and-white ain't your thing, Central Cinema is playing some modern classics this month. Tonight they are showing Scrooged and Bad Santa. Plenty of holiday cheer to go around!

Tonight // Central Cinema, 1411 21st Avenue // Grand Illusion, 1403 NE 50th Street // $6 - $8

CAKE-AROKEE: Tuesday nights are special at Highline, Capitol Hill's vegan dive bar. Usually Highline doesn't serve dessert, but on Tuesday nights they bust out some cake to go with their karaoke. Because just maybe good vegan booze isn't enough to get your karaoke buzz going. Pro-tip: The cake sells out fast; get there early.

10 pm // Highline, 210 Broadway East // Whatever the booze and cake will cost you
