Celebrate the Holidays with a Naughty Nutcracker Suite at the Triple Door
Seattle is a city rife with holiday theatrical alternatives. Seattle also boasts another genre of holiday entertainment, in a class all on its own: Burlesque. And, for the sixth year in a row, Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann are back at Seattle's illustrious Triple Door theater to present their holiday treat, Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker.
You'll see no modest portrayal of Clara and her family here -- none of the young girl's dolls will come to life in her dreams, tip toeing around on stage. Rather, the dancers of the Land of Sweets will entertain you with Verlaine and McCann's sultry and bawdy take on the classic ballet. Helping them out this year are otehr Burlesque Nutcracker stalwarts like Waxie Moon (as the Rat King), Verlaine's Mistress of Coffee, and Miss Indigo Blue will reprise her roles as The Snow Queen and a Sugarplum Fairy -- we also hear that Miss Viva Las Vegas' Snowflake will be back.
Tickets are already sold out for the first Friday and Saturday evening performances, so run down to the Triple Door, call the box office, or buy your tickets here to be sure to snag a seat for this holiday delight. Surely, this show will leave you with visions of sugarplums dancing in your heads (even we don't know what that means anymore).
December 14th through December 24; various showtimes // The Triple Door Mainstage, 216 Union Street // $28 - $45
