For three years, Kasey Keller patrolled the goal for the Seattle Sounders and his nearly 300 saves helped make him a local hero. So it was with a mixture of sadness and thanks that Sounders fans accepted the news that Keller would be retiring at the end of the 2011 season. The task of replacing Keller between the posts was a difficult one, not only because he was a truly solid goalie, but also because Keller had become synonymous with the Seattle Sounders in many people's eyes.

Difficult or not, yesterday Sounders coach Sigi Schmid announced that they have found their man: Austrian goalkeeper Michael Gspurning. With 96 career appearances in both Austria and Greece's top soccer divisions he brings plenty of experience to the post, and at 6'5" he has the height to be an imposing presence in goal. He also seems respectful of Keller's legacy and has even covertly attended a Sounders game to get a feel for the team.

So, Sounders fans, do you think Gspurning will be a good fit with the team? Let us know in the comments below.
