Seattle Music Scene Gets a Boost On Amazon's Best Of

Album by Shelby Earl at #1
We've known for ages that Seattle is a hotbed of talented musicians. Unfortunately, it's been our little secret -- at least until now. With Fleet Foxes, Head and the Heart and Macklemore getting national attention, more eyes are looking to our little corner of the country for musical talent.

Amazon put out a list of "Outstanding 2011 Albums You May Have Missed" and nine of Seattle's most talented artists crop up throughout, including Shelby Earl at number one. We'd like to mention that Head and the Heart is nowhere to be found, which, as much as we love those guys, is a refreshing change.

All we have to say is it's about damn time. Here's the roll call of Pacific Northwest talent mentioned:

1. Shelby Earl - Burn the Boats
7. Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside - Dirty Radio
15. The Lonely Forest - Arrows
36. My Goodness - My Goodness
45. Motopony - Motopony
50. Loch Lomond - Little Me Will Start a Storm
58. Fruit Bats - Tripper
75. Hot Bodies in Motion - Old Habits
89 Ivan and Alyosha - Fathers Be Kind EP
