Countdown in Photos #4: Duran Duran

Over the month of December I am planning to delight you with tales of my adventures as a concert photographer in 2011. They may be the best shots I took, or the best moments I experienced. Either way, it would be a shame for those to fall by the wayside and be left sitting dormant in my feeble mind. Keep coming back, there'll be a new one each day.

Check out yesterday's post with Minus the Bear.

Everyone has those bands that remind them of their wonder years when you're on the cusp of discovering music and falling in love with every lead singer featured in Tiger Beat. Unfortunately my wonder years were in the 80's so crushes consisted mainly of feather-haired, neon-dressed rockers with a penchant for dancing. While it may feel a bit embarrassing, the fondness remains.

For this 80's child photographer, 2011 ran rampant with "must-see" bands that brang back memories of yester-year. One such group, as you may have guessed by now, is Duran Duran. With hits like "Hungry Like the Wolf" and slow jams like "Ordinary World" I was helpless to resist falling in love with every single one of them.

It's been quite some time since those days but when I found out Duran Duran were heading to our neck of the woods, I had to grab the chance to photograph them. It was the first time I'd taken the trek to Comcast Arena but the fans were a lot of fun and really into the spirit of the show (let's just say there were a lot of glittering outfits in the crowd).

One advantage of shooting a band whose been around the block, they know how to perform and throw out epic rock stances. So. Much. Fun.

I saw them in Atlanta and they were fantastic.  The crowd was great too, pretty much standing the entire time.
