Letter from the Editor: There's A New Sheriff In Town

Dear Readers,

First, thank you for being readers. There are plenty of people out there who are "skimmers" or just "trolls", but if you're an actual reader, you're a gem.

Second, thank you, if this applies to you, for being long-time readers. Seattlest has had its ups and downs like any online-only, run-by-amateurs, fly-by-night website has. But lately, thanks to our hard-working staff, supportive families, patient pets, and yes, readers, things have been going pretty well for us around here.

2011-11-29_1712.png Despite rumors and speculation, Seattlest will still be here, at least for the time being, to bring you everything you've come to expect and more. More news, more arts and entertainment, more beer, more food, more stories about guys getting choked over cell phones or human feet washing ashore.

I just won't be running it.

In the six months since I've been alongside Jose at the helm (read: back-end) of this "news" site, we've grown a lot. More original reporting, more dynamic content (music, sports, theatre--you name it), more nights in the cold and rain to bring breaking coverage (sorry about the pneumonia, Everett), more chances to meet our actual readers (Seattlest Presents was pretty great, thanks to Morgen's ass-busting)--and it's all been awesome.

It has also been exhausting, particularly considering that this is no one's full-time job.

Which is why I'm taking some time off. It's like a sabbatical, except I'll still be doing all of my other jobs. Like a vacation, except with work involved. Just not this work.

Jose will be taking over as the full-time Editor-in-Chief of this site, where, along with the rest of our very dedicated staffers, he will tirelessly bring you the freshest, most interesting and informative content they can drum up. It's a big job, but he's going to own it.

Being the Editor around here as been awesome, in the actual sense of the word. Full of awe. And now, onto the next party.

Thanks for being readers,

--hanna
