Wulff Out at WSU, Hunt for New Coach Begins

WashingtonStateCougars.png
In what should come as a surprise to no one, Paul Wulff is out as head coach of the Washington State football team. After posting a 9-40 record over four years, the Cougs have decided to part ways with Wulff with still one year remaining on his original contract term.

Now the process of seeking a new coach to lead the team's rebuilding process has begun, with one name soaring to the top of the candidate pool: former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. However, there are quite a few programs looking for new leaders -- Kansas, Arizona, UCLA, Illinois, and dozens more -- so it could be a buyer's market for eligible coaches and Pullman will need to sell itself to attract a quality coach for their struggling squad.

Eric, you are quite correct. Thanks!

  • Just to correct the record, Arizona has already hired a new coach in Rich Rodriguez. I believe you meant Arizona State, which parted ways with former Oregon State HC Dennis Erickson on Monday. WSU joins UCLA and ASU as the three Pac12 schools currently looking for a new HC.
