Tonight's Kris Orlowski's CD Release Party is a Pre-Thanksgiving Treat

One of the benefits of being so closely knit in the Seattle music scene is the opportunity to get to know the musicians behind the music. Kris Orlowski is one of those rare people that you instantly like and want to get to know as soon as you meet him. What's even better is he wants the same, honestly happy and interested in all those around him.

His warm personality shines through in his music as well. I asked him in an interview last month how it is he always ends up writing such uplifting songs and whether it's because he tends to be in such a positive mood. His response surprised me, saying he actually can't write when he's happy; most of the time those songs come from a sad place. He just finds that he wants to pull himself out of those darker places and uplifting songs are what come out of it.

Tonight you'll have an opportunity to see Kris and his band for yourself as they perform at the Tractor Tavern. Consider it an early treat for Thanksgiving and a really great reason to avoid family for one more day (or even better, bring them along!) This show is a milestone for Kris and his band as they release their new album Warsaw.

We could attempt to review it for you but why not just let you hear it for yourself? Kris has posted the album to his Bandcamp page for the next week (or you can just listen to it below). Tell us what you think and if you're enjoying it, drop him $5 on the page and you can have it for your very own.

Kris isn't the only stellar act performing at tonight's show. Hot Bodies in Motion and the Smokey Brites will start your dancing feet a movin' so don't miss out or you'll be wishing you were thankful for this show.

Tonight @ Tractor Tavern // Doors at 9pm, 21+// tix $10
