Extra Extra: In Anticipation of Tryptophan

It's been a mixed day for protesters, a good one for well intentioned self-styled superheroes, and the Seattle Police Department gets the better end of the stick once again.

  • While the SCCC Board of Trustees decided to evict the Seattle Occupiers in their midst, the SLOG reports that the movement has filed an injunction with the Thurston County Superior Court in order to halt the eviction, calling the decision "an orchestrated theatrical action." [SLOG]
  • Meanwhile, Seattle Occupiers should breathe a little easier, as the SPD is running low on pepper spray, likely due to a regular dependency on its disabling powers on the mealy mouthed nogoodniks. [Publicola]
  • Speaking of the SPD, the police officer charged with assault after he kicked an underage suspect who was fleeing from a drug bust that had turned violent. According to City Attorney Pete Holmes, an independent expert found the use of force acceptable while not the favored option in that situation. [Seattle PI]
  • Finally, Benjamin John Francis Fodor, aka "Phoenix Jones", has had the charges of misdemeanor assault filed against him dropped. City Attorney Pete Holmes, who must have had an enjoyably diverse day, says that two of the victims in the incident involving the superhero's use of pepper spray could not be found and subsequently interviewed. Holmes wishes to stress, however, that "Mr. Fodor is no hero, just a deeply misguided individual." [Seattle Times]
