Can't Miss It: Wednesday

Tonight: a boozy talk at Book Larder, an Apple fanboy's cinematic wet-dream, and a load of laffs you won't be able to resist. Hooray for hump day!

DON'T BE BITTER: By far one of the most underrated (and yet so very awesome) cocktail ingredients, bitters give booze an extra somethin' somethin' that just can't be replaced. Or at least that's what Brad Parsons, author of Bitters: A Spirited History of a Classic Cure-All With Cocktails, Recipes and Formulas thinks. He'll be at much-hyped gathering space and shop Book Larder in Fremont tonight, talking about the sauce (as well as the folks behind the bar). Teetotalers, your night has been made.

6 p.m. // Book Larder // Free

JOBS PLAN: Still reeling from the loss of the man in the black turtleneck? You're not alone. Come pay your respects (again) at Metro Cinemas on 9th as they show a recently-uncovered interview with the person who gave us Pixar, Apple, and so, so much more. The film is on tour, so now's your (possibly) only chance to see it. Sure to be laced with plenty of insightful Jobsisms, it'll be the geekiest, most wonderful 70 minutes of your day. Probably.

7:15 and 9 p.m. // Metro Cinemas // $8-$11

LAFF IT OFF: Chop Suey's Laff Hole series offers something rare and wonderful: reliably good comedy at a reasonable price. Because, let's be real, Wednesday isn't an ideal date night, and comedy can really, really suck. But it doesn't at Chop Suey! Which is neat! Tonight, it's a southern invasion...in that the lineup includes people from Portland. Headliner Ian Karmel is most known for his role in Portlandia, and will be joined by a full-on PDX posse. Expect beards, slams on Seattle, and self-deprecating humor. Just the way you like it.

9 p.m. // Chop Suey // $10 adv.
