We Were Promised Jetpacks (and Don't Forget Flying Cars!)

Ok, so flying cars is just my dream for the future, but for a group of Scottish guys they turned to music to ease their disappointment with the "future". We Were Promised Jetpacks (WWPJ) have been together since they were youngsters. Forming in 2003 in their hometown of Edinburgh, they weren't even drinking age yet so as they put it they "ended up playing some odd nights."

That changed once they moved to Glasgow and turned into what they coined "a proper band." Finally of age and able to play any venue their popularity took off, especially when they were asked to open for one of my personal favorites and fellow Scotsmen, Frightened Rabbit.

Since their debut album they've been touring throughout the world and they're barely into their twenties. They've also managed to put a couple songs on pop tv shows like One Tree Hill and Sons of Anarchy. Can't imagine what kind of life that must be but luckily enough they're stopping by our neck of the woods tonight at Neumos so you can catch a glimpse of what the rest of the world has found out. These guys rock. Cheesy, I know, but it's true.

WWPJ aren't the only killer band playing tonight at Neumos. Get there early on to check out Bear Hands. Last year they hit up the Crocodile and while I couldn't make the show I checked out their album. I was completely blown away and listened to it for a weeks afterward. You could say I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to lay down and so should you. Weekday shows may not be your thing, but tonight is the night to make an exception.

Tonight @ Neumos // Doors at 8pm // tix $20 (plus fees), All Ages
