First there was the Jim Henson exhibit at EMP, and Seattlest’s own Tuesdays Muppet Days…we love that Seattle loves the Muppets. And now SIFF’s got a Jim Henson love-fest for all ages, just in time with the new Muppet movie coming out on November 23rd.

SIFF-Uptown just kicked off a month-long film festival dedicated to Muppet creator Jim Henson and his artistic legacy. The festival includes the Muppet Movies (and the first one plays tonight!), but also an exciting gamut of Henson’s other creations, such as a documentary behind-the-scenes look at Sesame Street, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. Fans of His Bowie-ness (or, fans in the making) might check out the Labyrinth showings; the screenings are listed as “quote-alongs” with subtitles. AND, a sock puppet station in the lobby so that everyone can make their own frenemies for the show. For those who can’t get enough Muppets, there are Muppet Fairytales, Muppet Music Moments, and Muppet Rarities from the Vault.

Along with the lovers and the dreamers, we’ll see you there.

“Muppets, Music, and Magic: Jim Henson’s Legacy” runs November 5-22 at SIFF Uptown, 511 Queen Anne Avenue North. Ticket prices and showings vary (youth tickets are available). See the full schedule here.
