Seattle Has Spoken: Candy Corn is the Worst

2011-11-01_1311.png Each year, approximately 35 million pounds of candy corn are produced. And each year, Seattelites shun the waxy, multi-colored kernels, silently suffering over their presence in candy dishes. Or at least, 20% of those who voted in the City of Seattle's official-ish poll about which candy is the worst. Poor candy corn.

The City of Seattle loves to give away bizarre prizes for little no work. This Halloween season was no exception, when they offered a poll regarding which candy people hated the most. The prize (which was randomly assigned to one person who took the poll)? A compost bin! With incentive like that, you're sure to get only the best, most widely representative answers.

Seattle Public Utilities' real motivation with the poll, though, was to remind users that while pumpkins and some Halloween treats (like the repugnant popcorn balls your elderly neighbor insists on trying to feed your kids) can go in the compost, gum and candy wrappers cannot.

Is candy corn truly the worst candy? The world may never know. But it is officially(ish) the most hated in Seattle. And really, it beat out Peeps, so that's definitely saying something.
