Go West!: Viadoom Wrap-Up Edition
We love our West Seattle neighbors, and thought they deserved more attention. Every Friday, we'll post the week's happenings in Seattle's island town.
- In case you've been living under a rock, the viaduct has been closed ALL WEEK LONG! Despite a pretty underwhelming start to Viadoom, traffic progressively got worse and commuters eventually started wearing thin. One resident called West Seattle with the viaduct closure "like Gilligan's Island." Some used the bus-only lane on the West Seattle Bridge; one woman who got pulled over told officers she was doing her "civic duty." Some switched to or continued their bike commutes with little difficulty.

- Two men in their 60s are in jail as suspects in a string of bank robberies, one in West Seattle.

Coming up this week:
- The viaduct will start to re-open tomorrow with the speed limit reduced to 40 MPH for the rest of its life.
- The radio play version of War of the Worlds that led to widespread panic at its debut will be performed live at Kenyon Hall tonight, tomorrow and Sunday.
- Bang Bar is hosting a benefit for Thai flood victims tomorrow.
- West Seattle High School will be continuing their production of The Desperate Hours tonight, plus November 2, 3 and 4.
