CANCELLED!

  • City Councilmember Mike "The Hot One" O'Brien is setting an example by taking up one of my favorite causes, by moving his money from Bank of America to a credit union. Yay, Mike O'Brien!

  • In less awesome news (for some people), Neumos sent out a press release letting everyone know that one-man-band Fences (see also: Dashboard Confessional 2.0) has cancelled tonight's much-hyped show. The show was part of City Arts Fest's lineup, and will go one, albeit with some other guy headlining.

  • Protesters at the Gates Foundation have called off their occupation, after SHARE (not to be confused with Cher) announced that the money which had been cut from their funding, which was the reason for the protest, had been restored.

  • An escaped inmate has been killed following a pursuit which included the inmate taking a hostage. There are few details so far, but no one else was hurt in the escape or shooting.

  • And finally, Edmonds has finally become a real city, because it now has a Dick's. This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened in Edmonds.

And finally, lazy journalists around town can't stop writing boring pieces about how the Viaduct's closure will surely end the world, but rest assured--if you a.) don't drive this weekend and b.) avoid the Viaduct area at all costs, it is unlikely that you, too, will be impacted by whatever stupid name they're calling this nine-day closure.

Happy weekend.
