From back to front, the totoroll (deep fried sushi roll with creamy scallops, tobiko, and avocado topped with spicy crab), the evergreen roll (eel, broiled salmon skin, and radish sprouts topped with seaweed salad), the tiger roll (spicy yellowtail, tobiko, and cucumber topped with shrimp), and the loaded roll (chockful of salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and avocado with spicy sauce and flying fish roe).

As Jenise mentioned back in August, the long-anticipated Book Larder, Seattle’s first community cookbook store (with attached kitchen!) will be opening today (10/12) in Fremont. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 11AM-6PM.

The Wing Luke Museum’s food exhibit, “From Fields to Family: Asian Pacific Americans and Food” opens to the public tomorrow (10/13) evening from 7-8 PM. Read our preview about it here.

And we already told you a bit about the Itadakimasu! (Welcome!) exhibit about the history of Japanese American food in the Northwest, but the Northwest Nikkei Museum has gone the extra, um, roll. This Saturday (10/15), go to the Gallery at the Hyogo Business and Cultural Center between 1:30 and 3:00 PM. Chef Takeyuki “Tak” Suetsugu of Bistro Satsuma in Gig Harbor will be offering free (!) sushi samplings and demonstrations. More information about the history of this popular food trend will be at the event, as well. And, all ages are welcome. Repeat: free sushi. Just go.
