Weekend Traffic Watch: Easy Ridin'
We're creeping closer to the full-on, end-of-the-month closure of the Alaska Way Viaduct, but luckily, we're not there yet.
This weekend, road crews will be opening and closing roads left and right, north and south. So make note of when and where, and plan your driving accordingly.
Fortunately for Metro riders, there are no significant transit re-routes to report this weekend, so this one's for the cars.
Saturday:
- Nightime closures near Alderwood Mall on I-5 will likely cause a little bit of backing up going both directions. Crews will close the three right southbound lanes from 164th Street to 196th Street beginning at 8 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. Sunday.
- I-405 will be closed in that area, as well, during that time.
- Some late night closures on I-90 may also cause slowing on the Eastside this weekend. Look out for closures of all westbound lanes I-90 at Richards Road from 11:59 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday.
Sunday:
- Nothing! Drive wonderfully!
All Weekend:
- I-5's off and on ramps to and from Mercer St. (including the express lane ramps) will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday morning. Look for posted detours in the vicently
- The on-ramp from University Street to northbound I-5 will also be closed until 5 a.m. Monday.
