Occupy Seattle Still Going, Marches Planned, One Incident Reported
Despite the rain and wind, the Occupy Seattle protest continues at Westlake Park with little police intervention. @OccupySeattle, the protest's official Twitter account, even reported a statement from the SPD stating that they were not likely to ticket or arrest anyone, despite being told to vacate by the mayor.
Seattlest staffers have been checking in at the Occupy Seattle protest throughout the day, and thus far, have only one police-related incident has occurred. Writer Dikla was told the following:
The person who was restrained and put into the ambulance had been a victim of a hit-and-run a few days ago. He was having an "episode" (getting stressed out?) and police restrained him on the stretcher. According to witnesses one of the police "hit him on the head" but, no one seemed to actually see it. Apparently, there was a video of said incident (no doubt it will be all over the internet sometime soon).
One protester Tweeted the following, presumably in regard to that incident:
Otherwise, the protest seems to be proceeding quietly and peacefully. There is a march planned for today at noon, and another at 4:30 p.m., following a general assembly.
