HELLO, DAVE: Cinerama's Big Screen Film Festival continues today with a showing of the biggest of the big: 2001: Odyssey. Sure, the whole "long beautiful shots with the Blue Danube Waltz playing in the background" thing seems super-tired now, but remember that Stanley Kubrick did it first--IN 1968.

2001: A Space Odyssey // Cinerama // 9 p.m. // $12

TWANG OUT: Many misplaced southerners find shelter in the cool wetness of the Pacific Northwest, but just get them started on raspy-voiced pickers, and they'll never stop. If you'd like to treat the down home fella or gal in your life, take him or her to Neumos tonight for one of the best singer/songwriters you've never heard of: Robert Earl Keen. Straight out of Texas, his heartfelt jams and nimble fingers will knock your boots clean off.

Robert Earl Keen // Neumos // 8 p.m. // $20

HOLE LOT OF LAFFS: Comedy, when done wrong, is about the saddest thing ever. But when the person behind the microphone totally nails it, it's a beautiful, boozy sight. Skip the Chop Suey tonight for Laff Hole, the weekly(ish) comedy showcase that's pretty much never sad, and basically always awesome.

Laff Hole // Chop Suey // 8:30 p.m. // $10
