Attention Beer Nerds: New Homebrew Shop to Open Tomorrow in Georgetown

Fall means a lot of things here in Seattle. The leaves change, the weather gets wetter and colder, Seattleites show off their newest galoshes and umbrella designs. Once we start seeing Pumpkin Spice Lattes on coffee menus and QFCs start expanding two isles worth of bagged candy and tacky Halloween decorations, we know it's here: Autumn has arrived.

There are many things we love about Autumn though. If we can set aside the rain, the dreariness and the lack of fresh berries, we all move to embrace squash soups, drinking tea in fogged up tea shops, and some of our favorite indoor hobbies. Which brings me to what time it really is here in Seattle: Homebrew season.

Just in time for some of us to start cleaning down our buckets and carboys, sanitize our siphons and hydrometers, a new homebrew shop is coming on to the scene down in Georgetown: Sound Homebrew Supply. We've been shopping up north at places like Bob's and Cellar Homebrew (both excellent shops and resources for the Seattle homebrew community) but now we have a new resource conveniently located in the south end of Seattle near some of our most well-loved growing breweries.

When asked about the choice of location for the shop, Michael Boos responded, "We spent a lot of time researching and planning where we wanted to set up shop. We picked Georgetown after taking a look at Seattle and finding that South Seattle and West Seattle were pretty much unrepresented as far as local brew shops go. Also, the legacy of brewing and craft beer related ventures in this area made Georgetown an easy decision. We’re finding out that Georgetown is a tight community and the businesses in the area have been very welcoming. We’re pretty excited to be a part of what is happening here."

Hours will run Tuesday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
