The Cheese Passport: Your Ticket To Cheap Cheese

thumbnail.jpg
October is American Cheese Month. Did you know this?

It's nearly American Cheese Month (the first annual one), and cheese shops all over town are celebrating by selling deeply discounted American cheeses to smart consumers who snag a $10 Cheese Passport, a one-way ticket to delicious, discounted cheeses.

Who can we thank for this glorious (and cheesy--in a good way) idea? Beecher's Handmade Cheese's Kurt Dammeier (who is, by the way, also the man responsible for bringing the American Cheese Society to town last year) is responsible, and we couldn't be happier.

The Passport works a bit like the Chinook Book--buy it for $10, then buy awesome, American-made cheese from participating retailers for 40% off. All. Month. Long.

Where does the money go? Straight to the very critical, ultra-important, doing-the-lord's-work American Cheese Education Foundation.

You may not be able to go international with the Cheese Passport, but it does seem like a great way to try some of those American cheeses you’ve always admired from afar.

    "Gouda?  Edam?"

    "No.  No."

    "Cheddar?"

"No.  Don't get much call for it 'round these parts."
