Freeattlest: Win a Pair of Tickets to a City Arts Festival Show

Freeattlest.png You already know how stoked we are on the City Arts Festival line-up. And we think that it just isn't fair that some people won't get to join in. So we're doing our part to make sure that everyone in town gets a chance to enjoy the festivities with a Freeattlest giveaway. One lucky reader will score tickets to one of four different shows during the festival, which runs from October 20th to the 22nd.

Entering is super-simple, but it may take a little bit of recall on your part.

We want to know which was your favorite show and/or art event from City Arts Festival 2010 and why. From the Weepies to Blue Scholars, from Chase Jarvis' Seattle 100 Exhibition to the Seattle Opera, tell us what the most moving, exciting or face-melting experience was that you encountered last year. Leave us a comment on the site with the story, and we'll pick our favorites for a pair of passes to one the following shows:

  • Robyn w/ Yacht (Oct 20th)
  • The Felice Brothers w/ Gill Landry (Oct. 20th)
  • Blue Sky Black Death + USF w/ Big Spider's Back and Brain Fruit (Oct 21st)
  • Blackalicious + Freestyle Fellowship w/ Hi-life Soundsystem and Don't Talk to the Cops (Oct 22nd).

If you have a particular day that you are able to go (or not go for that matter), or a show that you'd rather see, make sure to mention it in your comment--and don't forget to include your email so we can contact you!

These are some incredible shows and you don't want to miss out on your chance to see them FREE. The deadline is Friday at noon so post a comment and we'll let the lucky winners know that day.

Best of luck!

Dum Dum Girls and Macklemore was cool.

  • I wasn't able to go last year, and probably won't this year.

    Yay *f*unemployment! (the unpaid kind)

  • I would LLOOOOVVEE to go to City Arts again! My experience last year was fantastic!
My sister was just starting out in college in Gonzaga. We were both HUUUGE fans of She & Him and just flat out dying to see them. My family and I drove over to Spokane that weekend to pick her up and surprise her and drive over as a family. The trip there was long (6 hours both ways), but SO worth it! The light of Zooey was perfect with the line of her backup singers. We sung long to ALL their songs. It was one concer that I knew we would remember forever and it wouldn't had been possible without you City Arts!

I would love to go to this wonderful festival again and hopefully take my sister with me again. I was thinking of going to Robyn w/ YACHT, I love them BOTH!

  • I wasn't able to attend last year since I was a broke college grad. My City Arts Fest experience consisted of pining over the shows while eating a hot, steaming bowl of Ramen (most likely, since there was much Ramen to be had then).

I'd love to see Robyn! I thought she was pretty awesome when I was in 5th grade, and she's still pretty cool.

She & Him !  I saw their name on the lineup last year and I know I was getting a pass.  I've loved M Ward since the first time I heard his music and I was instantly a huge She & Him fan when I first heard their record.  I was very close to the front for their show in the beautiful 5th Ave Theater(I think that's what it's called).  And that theater framed their performance so perfectly.

Special runner up: Seeing the Young Evils for the first time as they played first on a bill with the Dum Dum Girls and the Vaselines.  Since then the Young Evils have sort of blown up and played at the Pearl Jam festival, I mean holy shit right?

PS- I would love to win tickets to see Built to Spill, please.

  • I haven't been to see anything at City Arts yet--just bad timing more than anything else. I had no idea Seattle Opera was involved with it. I saw their production of Wagner's ring cycle, it was very impressive. I'd be into either of the Blue Sky Black Death or Blackalicious shows. eyspahn at gmail dot com

  • I've never been able to attend the City Arts Fest and I'd L.O.V.E. to check out Blackalicious on Oct 22nd.  I REALLY hope the prerequisite to entering the contest isn't having previously attended the exclusive event, it will only limit the entrants to those who were lucky enough to attend before...

Hope I can still be included in the entrants!!

Fwiw - It's dope that positive, political rappers from the 90's are still gettin love and performing for great audiences everywhere (and that they haven't forgotten about Seattle). Hip hop originated from a place of empowerment and it's good to know that artists don't have to "make it rain" to get acknowledged

@amariemarketing is a great way to reach me!! DM or mention me and I'll send you my email

  • I didn't get to go to the City Arts Festival last year because I was languishing in the desert with no music or culture. Thankfully, I am back in Seattle for good and I would love to be able to make some new memories at this year's City Arts Fest. Hook me up! @GiantBuzzer
