NEPTUNE REBORN: As you may have heard, the historic Neptune Theatre in the U-District has been transformed from a single screen cinema, to Seattle's newest live performance multi-use arts venue. Since it is now officially part of the STG family, they are kicking off the Neptune's new life with a week of free events. Tonight's event is dubbed "Seattle Voices" and will feature a host of local singers. The evening includes: maritime music performed by William Pint & Felicia Dale; Total Experience Gospel Choir, led by Pastor Patrinell Wright and includes an audience participatory Gospel Workshop; and performances by rap artist Critical and the EriAm Sisters with MOV.

NERDS: Nerd Nite is an informal gathering at which nerds get together in the name of nerdery to talk about all sorts of nerdy things and drink. Being a nerd together is always more fun than being a nerd alone. And because this is a fact, Nerd Nites happen in cities around the world. However, believe it or not, tonight is Seattle's first Nerd Nite. (Seriously, how is this possible? This city has so many nerds!) And tonight Scott Heimendinger (of seattlefoodgeek.com) and Jeremy Irish (of Geocaching.com and Groundspeak) will be leading discussions on gastronomy and geocaching. Pocket protectors not required.

KNOW YOUR FOOD: James Beard Award-winning author Barry Estabrook wants you to be smarter about buying produce. So he joined a panel of farmers, restaurateurs, and retailers to discuss the complex issues surrounding the bounty of plentiful produce available to consumers today. The discussion will be moderated by KPLU environment reporter Bellamy Pailthorp. The price of admission gets you appetizers (catered by Whole Foods), two drinks, and a charitable donation.
