The original plan for this post was going to include the line "Bon Iver creates music with a melancholy that is so sincere, his music is only relevant between the months of November and March." Then we realized we live in Seattle and the weather aptly blows today, so it's fine.

Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) wrote much of the eight-track masterpiece For Emma, Forever Ago in a log cabin (log unconfirmed, but a safe assumption) in Wisconsin during the winter of 2007 while recovering from both a break up and a bout of mononucleosis. Cheerful! After being released via Jagjaguwar records in 2008, the album eventually landed at 16 on Billboard's alternative charts, with dozens and dozens of highly-ranked successes via pretty much every media outlet possible. The rest is history, as far as we're concerned.

Stillwater, Oklahoma's fairy-tale band Other Lives are openers for the evening. We caught their set at Sasquatch this year, and were amazed by their dramatic compositions and striking presence.

Cozy up to the warm, nostalgic, and vaguely heart breaking Bon Iver single, "Holoscene", from their self-titled release that dropped in March. Don't forget to check back in a day or two for a gallery and review of this incredible lineup.
