When we were kids, extra classes were never a good sign. But now, we belong to the school of thought that believes life-long learning rocks, and everyone should take a class or two every chance they get. There's little else you can do for your brain that's nearly as beneficial, and it helps you become a more diverse and awesome person. It seems that Michael Hebb (mastermind behind One Pot) agrees, which is presumably why he's collaborating with the Sorrento Hotel to offer another season of extra-curricular Night School for grown folks.

Night School started as a way to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Sorrento Hotel, and has hosted the brainy likes of Atul Gawande, Joshua Roman, Lauren Bush and many others. Hebb and the hotel invite artists, writers, filmmakers, mixologists, chefs and all other sorts of thinkers and doers into the fireplace-graced grand room to talk with folks in the Seattle community about what they’re working on, making or just plain thinking. The evenings are packed with dynamic conversations and have been known to include a big pot of stew and a nip of whiskey to stir the pot.

This year they, Night School is offering 3 penthouse symposiums to kick off the back-to-school season. Kicking off this this Sunday with an evening with Paul Miller - aka DJ Spooky - discussing his new book The Book of ICE, the evening is bound to be full of first-rate tunes, video and conversation. If you don’t have tickets yet you better grab them post-haste.

Also passing through the penthouse this fall are Cameron Sinclair (founder of Architecture for Humanity/TED Prize winner) and several of our countries “compelling young world changers” Adam Braun (Pencils of Promise) and Ellen Gustafson (Feed Foundation.)

Join the Sorrento and Hebb to make back-to-school a whole lot of thoughtful fun. Want in? Pay Brown Paper Tickets a visit.
