Jens Lekman Sells Out Seattle, But There's Still Hope

A while back, we posted that Gothenburg's golden child, Jens Lekman, was returning to Seattle. The news was generally met with giddy anticipation by the bespectacled and cardigan-donning masses that populate our fair city.

Now, we come bearing some unfortunate news if you're a Lekman fan who hasn't purchased your ticket yet to October 1st's show: it's sold out.

Yesterday, the Columbia City Theatre posted on their Twitter account that the Lekman show is currently at capacity. Considering this is Lekman's first show in Seattle since 2009 and that the Columbia City fits only 300 people - a relatively small number, compared to many Seattle venues, this fact makes sense.

Lekman has also revealed his opener for the U.S. leg of his tour: Geoff O'Connor, frontman for Melbourne-based pop quartet The Crayon Field. O'Connor's solo work seems slightly more boisterous than the fey pop of his former group, which seems in keeping with the tour - Lekman's new EP also appears to have a bounce that previous albums lacked, incorporating Afrobeat and calypso rhythms to make a charmingly introspective brand of tropic-pop. We're interested to see how it'll play out live, particularly as Lekman has announced he'll be performing this tour supported by only a drummer, rather than a full band.

If all this news has you despondent, have faith - while the event is currently sold out, the Columbia City Theater added that "some tickets may be released the day of show."

We suggest you start camping out now - the show may be well worth the wait.
