Cake vs. Pie Photography Contest: Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Cake vs Pie Photography Contest Deadline is October 14

Seattlest has never been shy about mixing it up. And when it comes to topics that have communities pitted against one another, you can be sure at least a handful of the staffers will decidedly be near the action, weighing in with our unsolicited (but always educated) opinions. And the more esoteric, the better.

One of the debates currently sweeping across our fair city is one that raises the ire of many a baker: which is better, cake or pie?

We recently wrote about the ultimate rematch of Cake vs. Pie, organized by Seattlest's own food writer, Jenise. And we told you that the baking competition that will go down October 10 at Vermillion, where pretty much everything cool and important is happening these days. The rematch promises plenty of fun and in the end - a new champ will be crowned.

But if you’re not a baker and still want to jump into the ring, Jenise is also reviving the ever-popular Cake vs. Pie photography contest (hosted by your good friends here at Seattlest).

Cozy up to your favorite cake or pie and get to snappin', because the winning photographs will be featured as photos of the week on seattlest.com along with receiving some cool prizes which include a $50 Glazers gift card, a $25 Glazers gift card, or a one year subscription to Seattle Magazine.

Entering is easy as pie--just join the Seattlest Flickr pool, and add your photos with "CVPP" in the title (and in the tags for good measure). Done and done.

We’ve got some real pros helping out with the judging this year. Professional food photographers Clare Barboza (http://clarebarboza.com) and Lara Ferroni (www.laraferroni.com) will sift through your pics (maximum of 3 per entrant, please) to see which ones rise to the top. The top three photographers with mad skills pictures of perfect pies and cakes will be featured as part of our daily Seattlest Pix.

So bake or borrow a baked good, or head on down to the Cake vs. Pie rematch on October 10 and click to your heart’s content (although any photos, past or current, of cake or pie are eligible). Just make sure to hit us with your best shots by October 14.

Submit your photos with CVPP included in the title to the Seattlest flickr pool and make sure to drop an email here with your name, email, flickr ID and photos attached.
