Comic Enthusiasts Unite: Jet City Comic Show This Weekend Seattle Center

Look, it's another convention for nerds! YAY!

Basically, the Jet City Comic Show is less crazed, more low key local alternative to Emerald City or other ginormous comic conventions that tend to be more mass-media based.

The Jet City Comic Show, which was started in order to fill in the void for a quality one-day show that's all about the fans and dealers, is basically designed to be fun and entertaining for the hard-core fans. It offers a place where they will have time to browse all the dealer tables or visit with their favorite creators--without fear of crowded lines full of trekkies waiting for Jonathan Frakes' autograph. Also, it's only $8 to get in

Pre-purchased tickets from Brown Paper Tickets will also receive a free Bomber Girl Print by Matthew Clark at the door. Because, of course, everyone loves free swag (and no one likes getting sold out of a fun thing), I recommend this option.

Co-founder James Taylor (not that one) had this to say about the event:

We're proud of the fan feedback that we received last year and feel we've put together an even better show for this year...Jet City Comics Show is a fan friendly event, a chance for attendees to have fun, be entertained, browse through comics and discover some fantastic artists and writers.

Special guests will include William Katt (best known for his role as the star of The Greatest American Hero). Artists featured at the con will include Dan Brereton (creator/artist: The Nocturnals, Thrillkillers, Giantkiller), Nick Dragotta (Vengeance, Captain America: Forever Allie and more) and Dustin Nguyen (Batman: Streets of Gotham, Detective Comics) as well as local artists such as Greg Rucka (writer: Batwoman, Queen & Country), Matthew Clark (Ghost Rider, Superman), Emi Lenox (creator/artist Emitown) and many more.

The show's programming also includes karaoke competitions and "Drink & Draw" (located at other venues during the weekend, in conjunction with the event). And as with any comic/gamer convention, attendees are encouraged (like they need it) to dress as their favorite villain, superhero or pop culture personality for the event -- as, of course, there will be a costume contest at the event. So, never fear Seattle, another weekend of people watching is guaranteed!

Set up your lawn chairs along Mercer and enjoy the show.
