Seattlest's Favorite Things
Without Oprah to tell us what to like and buy, the Seattlest Staffers were feeling a little lost. So we've polled each other and come up with the stuff that we can't get enough of this week, from places to go and things to do, to the little tidbits that make our life better on the daily. Here's what we've got this week:
Staying out way too late on school nights and dancing. Cause you know what? Why not? As long as you can drag ass into work on time and get your work done, who cares if you are out late wiggling your groove thing on the dance floor? Sure you may regret it in the morning, but maybe you won't. Maybe you will have a great night and look sexy and dance the night away in a dark loud bar with hot sweaty people and you will feel lucky and happy to have a life of options.

The UW Surplus Store: As a former Art Director, a current collector of beautifully designed objects and a former shopper of Boeing Surplus I cannot resist strolls through the latest and greatest purveyor of used objects 'new kid on the block' UW Surplus Store. If the allure of previously owned lab and restaurant equipment, school supplies and vintage modern furniture of pedigree are not enough to spur you to make the cross town commute then check out the delightful and skillfully written (by a creative writing grad student) Twitter feed, @uwsurplus.

Things with spikes, but not teachers' strikes: It's been quite a week down here in T-town, strike included. And hedgehogs have been appearing in my life with surprising frequency in the last few months. Example, this amazing Tumblr.
Food-wise, the berry season isn't quite over yet. Terry's Berries down here in Puyallup is selling sweet golden raspberries and strawberries! Sometimes it really is the little things.

The Scarlet Johannson Nudie Pics:
Doubtlessly, we've all seen these leaked cell phone photos by now. Or, if we haven't clicked the links from SOMEONE (yeah, you know who you are)'s link, we've definitely been made aware of them.
The thing about why I love this is because it's the age-old controversy of whether or not celebrities should expect any sort of privacy. I say "age-old" because, even before the Internet, celebs have been in the not-so-pretty spot-light (Ah, the days of the National Inquirer). And, it's unfortunate, and sometimes even dangerous (ex: Princess Diana). Regardless, I love the questions that shit like this brings up and the debate that rages on about celebrities, their personal space and whether it's even a Paris Hilton scheme (hard to tell sometimes) or a real invasion of privacy.

My vet: This week, my dog wasn't feeling well, and we needed to find a new clinic. I took him to Broadway Broadway Veterinary Hospital for the first time, and the staffers and techs and vet were all amazing and super-nice. It wasn't the horrible experience it could have been. I appreciated that.
