Tweeter of the Week: @SouthLakeUnion

twitterbird.png From now until I forget to do it, I'm going to highlight my favorite Seattle Tweeter. Think of it like #FollowFriday, but less about getting followers for myself, and more about exposing Twitter accounts that are notable, humorous or informative--and always under 140 characters.

What do you love more than dropping some local knowledge on your stupid friends? Nothing, right? So, you absolutely must be fascinated by anything and everything that's cooking in the neighborhood that every so-and-so in Seattle is predicting with be the next Georgetown (once everyone figures out that Georgetown just isn't happening), yes?

In previous years, South Lake Union was a sort of desolate pit, lurking at the top of Belltown, where the dredges of Aurora dumped out, and from which Queen Anne shyly stepped away. But in the last few years, a few good folks have stepped up to reclaim the potentially-scenic, actually-pretty-transit-necessary junction into something with some function. And all along the path toward South Lake Union's salvation, there's been @SouthLakeUnion, letting folks know what's happening.

Sure, the updates come from Vulcan Real Estate, but the content is still pretty everyone-friendly. Even if you can't afford to live in a Paul Allen Dream Home, you can still keep tabs on the neighborhood that could have easily become Seattle's crotch. But instead, it's being developed and grown into something much less tawdry than that. Which makes it a neighborhood worth watching, and @SouthLakeUnion an account worth following.
