Can't Miss It: Thursday
BOB AND WEAVE: Cataldo is yet another reason for Seattle to celebrate its local music scene. Comprised of songwriter Eric Anderson and a slew of local guest musicians, Cataldo presents folk tinged indie rock with 21st century sensibilities - that is to say traditional with enough "new" sounding sounds to make it sound like something new. But don't take our word for it, listen to tracks from the newest album, Prison Boxing, here. In fact, tonight's show is the record release party for Prison Boxing, to be physically released on Sept. 20th. Just in time to be our autumn soundtrack. Loch Lomond and Land of Pines also play.
8:00 p.m. // The Crocodile // $8
BANK SHOT: Yeah, let’s talk about playoffs. Your Seattle Storm, defending WNBA champs, sole purveyors of pro b-ball entertainment, pour into the playoffs with plenty of momentum from the regular season, taking on their rivals, the Phoenix Mercury. Booo. Hisss. Airball! Sure, the Storm have won 10 of their last 11 against the Mercury, but the games always come down to the proverbial wire, and this best of series could be tight. The best of 3 series starts tonight. Tickets are still available. Game airs on ESPN 2.
7:00 p.m. // Key Arena // $15 - $165
FASHION & PHILANTHROPY: Seattle’s independent fashion show, now in its 8th year, combines the newest in local design with an adventurous auction from which the proceeds go to Rise N Shine, a local organization providing support and education for children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS. Check out the best in local design while tossing your hat in the ring for trips, Showbox Sodo tix, parties, and even a Sounders FC Suite. Hosted by John Curly.
7:00 p.m. // Showbox Sodo // $50 - $500 (206) 628-8949 ext. 216
