The Original Mobile Chowdown Takes it on the Road Again Next Month

When the first Seattle Mobile Chowdown launched in Interbay several years back, it seemed like a pretty novel concept—especially since back then, there were only a few trucks in the area. But since its inception, food trucks have become everyone's new boom, leading to bigger and better Chowdowns than ever before.

Last year, the Chowdown pulled out of the gravel lot and made a right turn heading south to the Seahawks' stadium parking lot. The event was decidely better attended and much more user friendly; the organizers even brought in trucks from out of town and added beer to the mix. That said, there were complaints about the price of beer, so they are making a move again.

This year, Seattle Magazine and communications/media specialists Suzuki + Chou are headed west, young man, all the way to California Ave., in hopes of bigger crowds, more trucks, and maybe even cheaper brews. So hit an ATM for some cash (you don't want to be the jerk with the debit card on a $4 sandwich, do you?) and head to the farthest reaches of Seattle to celebrate all that’s great about “curbside cuisine.” This year's festival will feature a beer garden sponsored by Pyramid Breweries, as well as contests by Google Places, and even a kid's play area for the younguns'.

The vendor list rolls 23 deep, with representation from Marination Mobile, Where ya at Matt, Skillet Street Food, Street Treats, Parfait, El Camion, Veraci Pizza, Maximus Minimus, BUNS, Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, Fusion on the Run, I Want Curry Now, The Bistro Box, Charlie’s Buns & Stuff, Pai’s, Andrae’s Kitchen (Walla Walla), Lumpia World, Raney Brothers BBQ, Street Donuts, Big Food Mobile, Snout & Co., PretzelWagen and A Lunch in Hand. Phew!

The Chowdown circles up the wagons all day on Sunday, October 2.
