Won: The Huskies came out strong in Saturday's matchup with Hawaii, posting 21 points in the first quarter alone. The Warriors were left to play catchup for the rest of the game, a feat they almost achieved. If Hawaii hadn't missed a two-point conversion and two of those extra point kicks had been good, the score could have been even closer than the 40-32 final we saw. But, they weren't, and UW deserves credit for an accumulated 466 yards of total offense, 315 of which came from the arm of QB Keith Price.

Lost: The Mariners played well Friday. Blake Beavan had a difficult first inning, but mellowed on the mound afterward. Ichiro was in top form with several hits and even a home run, while several other players made offensive contributions in the 7-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Too bad the Ms couldn't carry that momentum into the rest of the weekend. Saturday, in spite of homers from both Justin Smoak and Mike Carp, the remainder of the lineup struggled against the Royals pitching, eventually falling 4-2. Sunday entailed another impressive pitching display from the Royals as they closed out the weekend series with a 2-1 win over the Ms.

Won: The Storm closed out the regular season with their fourth straight win on Sunday, shutting down the Chicago Sky 81-70. MVP Lauren Jackson was on the bench, but there were plenty of other playmakers that stepped up, including Katie Smith and Camille Little with 17 points a piece. The WNBA playoffs kick off on Thursday, when the Storm will take on the Phoenix Mercury at the Key Arena.

Lost: The Sounders last played an MLS opponent on August 27, when they completely dominated Columbus 6-2. Going into Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake, Seattle were riding a seven-game undefeated streak in the MLS and hadn't lost a home game since May 25. All that came to an end though, as they lost 2-1 this weekend. A missed penalty kick by Mauro Rosales in the 16th minute and an own goal from Kasey Keller in the 13th proved to be critical errors that cost the team the game.

Won: If you're a Cougs fan, the football team out in Pullman is giving you something to cheer about. After several seasons of frankly abysmal records, Washington State has gone two for two in this young college football season, putting up 123 points and 1,200 yards of total offense. Saturday, they ran -- and occasionally threw -- all over UNLV for a final score of 59-7. If they keep up at this pace, the Apple Cup against UW on November 26 could be mighty interesting.

Lost: If you were following along with the Seahawks' performance in the preseason, you were probably not real sure how they would do in their regular season opener this weekend. Well, now you have your answer...not well. The first half was a little ugly for both teams: neither team scored in the first quarter and the first touchdown didn't come until the final seconds of the second quarter. With just under four to go in the fourth quarter, the 49ers were barely ahead 19-17, but the Seahawks had no defense against Ted Ginn Jr. The former Ohio State standout had a 102-yard kickoff return and a 55-yard punt return -- both for touchdowns -- in the final minutes of the game to put San Francisco ahead 33-17. So, how did Tavaris Jackson do in his first game as Seahawks QB? At the end of the day, he had two TDs, five sacks, one interception, and 197 yards to his name.
