We may be in the final weeks of summer, but someone, somewhere is dreaming of snow-covered mountains and carving through powder. For that person -- and we imagine a few others -- today is your lucky day. The much-anticipated snowboarding film, "The Art of Flight," makes its Seattle debut at McCaw Hall tonight.

"The Art of Flight" follows Travis Rice and his risk-taking, world-class level snowboarding band of brothers as they take on some of the most remote and difficult terrain around the world. This film is more than just your usual shots of snowboarders with rock music blaring in the background. It's one part travelogue: we follow the boarders to Alaska, Romania, Patagonia, Canada, Wyoming, and Austria. It's one part buddy film: there's actual character development and the camaraderie between these guys at the top of their game is evident. Its also full of breathtaking HD shots of the snowboarders in action, soaring above the snow, and occasionally falling hard back to earth.

Two of the snowboarders featured in the film hail from our area, Mark Landvik from Bellingham/Port Angeles and Pat Moore from Seattle, and they'll be at tonight's screening as well as at the Quiksilver store this afternoon for autographs.
