Extra, Extra: Quakes in BC, Fires in Goldendale

  • A 6.4 magnitude earthquake centered around Vancouver Island, BC, shook some buildings as far south as Seattle today. Fortunately, there were no reports of damages of death. If you felt the quake in Seattle, give the USGS a hand and report it.
  • The body found stuffed in a trash can this week was identified to be that of a 16 year old boy, officials stated today. The teen died of a gunshot wound to the head, and police have arrested a 20-year-old, who is being investigated for murder.
  • Despite the efforts of hundreds of firefighters, the wildfire near Goldendale, WA continues to grow, fueled by changing winds and dry heat. The fire has now claimed more than 8 square miles of land, and forced the evacuation of many area residents.
  • An Amber Alert has been issued in Washington State for a toddler who went missing from Vancouver. The boy is believed to have been kidnapped by a registered sex offender.
  • And finally, Amanda Knox has stated that she hopes to be back in Seattle by Thanksgiving. We can only imagine the reception she'll receive.

And now, it is the weekend. Go outside.
