Seattlest Suggests: Burien Lantern Festival

Everybody loves pretty lights, right? Of course you do. So grab your pashmina, wrap, hoodie, or whatever it is you use to keep warm in the evenings, and head out to one of the most magical community events non-Seattle-proper has to offer.

Ferreted away in one of my favorite 'hoods, the Burien Lantern Festival is back and better than ever. Think a more refined version of the Shriner Parade of Lights of your childhood, but without the noise and the nasty circus-colored lights.

You'll encounter lantern art and performers around every corner, tea leaf reading, and even an opportunity to make a lantern and join the procession at dusk (8ish). Be sure to stay for a performance after the procession by the always magical Lucia's Neare's Theatrical Wonders.

Don't miss this free community event Saturday, September 10 (that's tomorrow), from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Dottie Harper Park, 421 SW 146th.
