Extra, Extra: In Which Google Buys Zagat
- In the wake of news that Google had waded into Groupon's treacherous (and tepid) waters, the Big G had to announce something that would get all those skeptics talking about something else. So, they bought Zagat. They plan to integrate its reviewing system into Google Maps, making Yelpers across the country quiver in fear.
- Work remains at a standstill after longshoreman forced the shutdown Port of Longview, as well as ports in Seattle and Everett, over a labor dispute that began early this morning.
- A wildfire in Southern Washington is rapidly spreading, and has now claimed nine area homes. The fire, which broke out near Goldendale, began yesterday, and over 300 homes have been evacuated as a precaution.
- Now, onto weather. Climate experts are predicting yet another La Nina winter year, which makes us wonder if this is less of a "pattern" and more of a "here's how winters are going to be from now on" situation.
