Can't Miss It: Wednesday

ACT TWO: Yesterday, we recommended you skip to the Paramount for local favorites Fleet Foxes triumphant return to the homeland. But if you didn't heed our suggestions, the kindly folks at STG have given you a mulligan, with a second show by this area ensemble. We hear that last night's was mind-explodingly awesome, so we're quite sure tonight's is truly a can't-miss-it situation.

Fleet Foxes // The Paramount // 7:30 p.m. // $34+

GUITAR HERO: If you're just too broke to afford the aforementioned engagement, there's a very, very close second that's very, very inexpensive. Seattlest favorite Andrew Vait is gracing Neumos tonight with his strummy, heartfelt brand of solo pop-folk. Also, his truly epic hair. He'll be joined by See Me River and Aaron Sprinkle, in a perfectly perfect Wednesday evening lineup that is sure to be both mellow and melodious. Meow.

GET READY TO EXPLODE: If you can't stand shoegaze, blame Explosions in the Sky, the dreamy instrumentalists who pretty much brought it to the mainstream in the last 5 years or so. Of course, if you're a fan, you know there's nothing better that drifting away on a cloud of beautiful music that cradles your skull like a unicorn's tale that's been dipped in cotton candy and wrapped in down, all the while you're floating in a warm pool of love and candyjuice on a soft bed of melodies. Which is pretty much exactly how you'll feel at the Croc tonight when you go see Explosions in the goddamn Sky at this show, which was technically a secret until like 2 days ago.

Explosions in the Sky with Twin Sister // The Crocodile // 8 p.m. // $20

A VILLAGE UNITED: What's that? You prefer black and white British films from the 1940s? You lucky weirdo--Northwest Film Forum has just the ticket. Alberto Cavalcanti's 1942 propaganda/drama/war-time flick Went the Day Well? is a stunning piece of English culture, telling the tale of a small rural village, occupied by German soldiers. A piece that's actually from the period, rather than a period piece, this epic story reflects the fears of mid-century British citizens during the second World War as only an in-the-moment piece of cinema could.

Went the Day Well? // Northwest Film Forum // 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. // $6-$9
