Charity Chow: Mobile Food Rodeo's Maiden Voyage
So you’ve been meaning to get to all of the Pacific Northwest's hottest food trucks for months, but a job and a life have done what they do--gotten in the way of your fun. Enough with the excuses--Mobile Food Rodeo may be the help you need to get sated.
At noon on Saturday the 17th of September, 20 of Seattle and Portland’s hottest meals on wheels are coming together for the inaugural Food Rodeo to benefit Solid Ground, the deservedly-lauded poverty relief agency and personal Seattlest favorite.
Cooked up by Ryan Reiter and Jon Hegeman, organizers of the Ballard Farmers Market and Fremont Outdoor Movies—Mobile Food Rodeo will host a food truck competition (called the Wagon Awards) with Mayor McGinn and Chef in the Cowboy Hat for the day, Thierry Rautureau, serving as the inaugural event's presiding dignitaries.
Who’ll be rounded up in the corral? Old timers like Skillet, Maximus Minimus, Molly Moon will be joined by fresh faces such as Snout & Co. and Big Food Mobile.
And if you are the plan-ahead type, you're in luck--we just noticed a Groupon offering half price tix for $10-$20, the latter featuring early entry to avoid long waits plus a pair of tasting tics. Check your inbox (and your spam folder) to see if you've got the hookup.
