Plan Ahead: Weekend Traffic Alerts

Oh, Seattle. It's about to get really sticky. But luckily, not this weekend.

Every week, we let you know what you can expect on the roads around the Sound, and every week, it seems to get a little worse. But this weekend, you seem to get a Labor Day break, with minimal closures and construction, plus no home games. Except, of close, on the Viaduct.

But don't get too cozy--you know it's going to get bad this fall.

Friday:
The viaduct will be closed for some overnight work late tonight and into early tomorrow morning, between the South Royal Brougham Way off-ramp and South Lander Street.

Saturday:
The biggest traffic mess this weekend is going to be on Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., when crews will be closing up to two southbound lanes on the viaduct near South Hanford Street.

Sunday:
There's really not much going on on Sunday, according to WSDOT and King County Metro. This doesn't mean you won't find traffic, though, so...you know. Take the bus or bike, just in case.

All Weekend:
Through next Friday, expect to see closures of up to three lanes on Mercer Street near Westlake Avenue and Boren, nightly between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
This could pose a problem for those late to leave Bumbershoot, which will be gumming up traffic around the Needle all weekend.
