On Friday afternoon, fans of Christina Choi’s two-year-old celebrated Eastlake eatery were saddened to learn today that Nettletown CafĂ© will be closing this weekend. The news came first through the restaurant’s newsletter, then quickly went viral on Twitter. There, food journalist Rebekah Denn called Nettletown “in some ways the most Northwest little restaurant I know.”

After the restaurant’s final brunch service on Sunday, August 28th it is holding a buffet-only party for $15, from 4-7PM. The newsletter states that the restaurant is closing so that its owners can pursue other ventures, and promises that "another great neighborhood place is coming your way."

For our part, we appreciated how the restaurant introduced us to the wonders of housemade spaetzle, especially when stir-fried with ingredients such as fiddlehead ferns and red cabbage.
