Tweeter of the Week: @TilthProducers

From now until I forget to do it, I'm going to highlight my favorite Seattle Tweeter. Think of it like #FollowFriday, but less about getting followers for myself, and more about exposing Twitter accounts that are notable, humorous or informative--and always under 140 characters.

twitterbird.png The mission of the Tilth Producers of Washington is simple: to "promote ecologically sound, economically viable and socially equitable farming practices that improve the health of our communities and natural environment." Which is something we can totally all get behind. And, it turns out, something that makes for fascinating following.

The Tilth Producers Twitter account is ripe with gardening ideas, links to super-informative and interesting articles about organic and sustainable gardening, cooking and drinking, and plenty of save-the-dates for farm-to-table dinners, charity events, markets and other grower-focused gatherings. And it's not just radishes and rotations--currently, it's Organic Cocktail Week, and they're putting on a contest that asks followers to submit their favorite organic cocktail recipes.

In addition to being pretty bad-ass at social media (their Facebook page is also most excellent), Tilth Producers also publish a directory of local growers as well as a quarterly, helps match prospective interns with programs in the area, puts on conferences, and hosts Washington Organic Week, which is going on now.

Follow @TilthProducers to stay in the know about what's growing and going on in the Pacific Northwest, from large-scale operations to backyard gardens.
