Six months. That is all the time you have left to visit the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art in Bellevue, which announced today that it will be shuttering its doors on March 1, 2012.

Open just shy of 20 years, the museum was internationally recognized for its collection of 12,000 dolls and was a particular favorite among phlanganologists (that's doll collectors to the rest of you). It's been around so long, it's URL is just "www.dollart.com".

Home to over 1,200 dolls on permanent display (and about as many for sale), the museum features antiques, collectibles, miniatures and modern dolls from around the world.

Doll museums across the country appear to have been disappearing. Perhaps it was the recession, or a receding interest in the subject matter, or even the fact that some people find dolls creepy, but, whatever the reason, the Rosalie Whyel Museum, described as a being "dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of dolls as an art form," has unfortunately joined their ranks.

So, in the next couple of months, make your way to Bellevue to say goodbye to this quirky gem on the Seattle museum scene.
