A Seattlest Guide to: SAM Remix

This installment was at the gorgeous Olympic Sculpture Park and featured musical performances from Norhtern Exposure, Craft Spells, and Daydream Vacation, DJ sets by SunTzu Sound and DJ Skiddle and Sammy LaForge, a sing-along to Grease, bean bag tosses with Troy Gua and Dumb Eyes, a massive collective paint-by-numbers project, tours of the park by presenting partners, a signature Scent designed just for the Olympic Sculpture Park by Susan Robb and lots and lots of schmoozing.
Remix, with a little pre-planning, can be a kick-ass way to hobnob the night glamorously away, but you're going to get out of it what you put in. We offer some humble suggestions to ensure you have a night to remember at upcoming Remix evenings.
- Bring cash. The majority of the drink stations were cash only, and the debit card accepting exception had very long lines. Cocktails were $5 so depending on how rowdy you want to get, plan your ATM stops accordingly.
- Do you. We're not saying you should bring a flask with you, because that's probably against the rules, but if you did you probably wouldn't regret it. Long lines for drinks mean less time to enjoy the breadth of activities offered. Use standard "smuggling in alcohol" rules to avoid ruining it for the rest of the sneaks: keep it on the DL, don't get too smashed, and don't do anything stupid.
- Participate. Seattle can sometimes be a city of arm-crossing wallflowers who turn up their noses at anything too "undignified" for our high-faluting tastes. Don't be that guy. Get your booty on the dance floor, toss some freaking bean bags and take a whiff of the special scent. You came her to have fun right? So do it!
- Step out. We are happy to report that there was an overwhelming number of people at the party who had tried their sartorial best. A round of applause to the gals in pretty dresses and heels, to the guys in skinny ties with jeans to match and all the artsy types in their out-there attire. Seattle cleans up real nice, so keep up the good work.
- Roll deep. Remix seems like a party that would be a real hoot with a whole gang of your most fun-loving friends. The more the merrier, especially in large crowded events.
The next Remix is October 28 and is your chance to get up close and personal with Luminous: The Art of Asia. Tickets on sale soon and will run members $12 and non-member $20.
