Pacific Science Center Also Strikes it Big with $1.2 Million Grant

The science center may not have a wealthy benefactor like MOHAI, but they're still being rewarded for the good work they do to instill in Seattle's future nerds a love of science.

According to a press release from the Science Center, the $1.2 million grant came from the National Center for Research Resources at the National Institutes of Health. Which is exciting in and of itself, but made more so by the fact that it marks the first time that the pearly-arched laser-show-hosting Science Center has ever received a nod of this caliber.

From the release:

This five-year grant will enable Pacific Science Center to expand its partnerships with local research organizations and highlight more researchers in our region through a new exhibit space at Pacific Science Center as well as a number of different programs and events at the Science Center and in communities throughout Puget Sound.

The funds will mostly be used to create a exhibition space, which they're calling "The Studio."

We're very excited to see so many of our regions stand-out museums and services being recognized for their awesome work. Now if only some philanthropist could save homeless shelters from being closed.
