Can't Miss It: Wednesday
ROOSTER REVIVAL: It's Wednesday again, which means one of your very best choices for wiling away the evening is to truck it to Marymoor park with a blanket and a bottle (or box) of wine. Sprawl out under the stars and watch this week's Movies at Marymoor flick: True Grit. The perfect choice for a low-key first date or a cheap-o evening with friends, Movies at Marymoor only costs a sawbuck, and is way more fun than sitting in an air-conditioned theater when it's only 60 degrees outside.
7 p.m. // $5 // Marymoor Park
BEAUTIFUL, BOUNTIFUL: Right now at SAM, you can take a gander at some truly gorgeous 19th century American art work, including stunning photographs and paintings. But before you see the exhibit, titled Beauty & Bounty, head up the Hill to Elliot Bay Book Company to see the woman behind it, curator Patricia Junker. She'll be discussing the book that's been published just for the exhibit, Albert Bierstadt: Puget Sound on the Pacific Coast: A Superb View of Dreamtime, which focuses on one of the show's most spectacular pieces.
7 p.m. // Free (but you should buy the book) // Elliot Bay Book Company
CHICKS WITH FLICKS: ACT's been stirring up controversy lately with their play about a vibrator, but the fact is, they're pretty much always working on something kind of edgy--it just doesn't always have the no-no words right in the title. Case in point: RAWSTOCK. Part of ACT's Central Heating Lab series, which highlights raucous, wrong, and yes, raw comedy, cinema and animation, RAWSTOCK is a quarterly mini-film festival devoted to burgeoning local and national directors and creators. This month, they want you to check out 10 short, experimental films created by women for one hell of an evening. Sponsored by Hotel Max, Wax-On Spa, Bulleit Bourbon and Voyager Gin, you know this is sure to be a big-girl-boots-on kind of event.
8 p.m. // $10 // ACTs Bullitt Theatre
