Rachel the Pig Turns 25
If you are a market regular then you know Rachel is the hardest working fundraiser in town. She stands 24/7 at the entrance of Pike Place Market raising funds for human services which serve the market community.

I’m a market volunteer and I’ve seen first-hand where those funds go—to feed the hungry, to cure the sick, to delight seniors and to educate the next generation of market goers at the preschool. Rachel usually does a soft sell with her ready smile and coin slot always at hand under the market clock. But Wednesday, August 17, she’ll have plenty of help from PDA and Market Foundation staff in spreading the word about her Birthday, the markets 104th Birthday and the important community services partially funded by the Market Foundation.

At noon there will be music - plus an opportunity to learn more about the health and human services at the market. Throughout the day you may take advantage of a photo op with a vintage farm truck, snag a special birthday tote bag and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a 10 day Holland America Cruise, an overnight stay with dinner at The Inn at Langley or tickets to the 2012 Sunset Supper.

And as always there will be plenty of delicious fresh fare from market vendors. See you at the market!
