Can't Miss It: Tuesday
Check out some fish and plants with this guy at the UW Burke Museum!
BEHIND THE SCENES EXCLUSIVE: The Burke Museum is hosting a super special behind the scenes tour of their fish and plant collections. Located at the south end of the UW Campus, the Herbarium and Fish collections make up the majority of the Burke's 14.1 million specimens. The tour will start in the UW Greenhouse and then it will break into smaller groups for some exclusive behind-the-scene access. Curator of Botany Dick Olmstead and Curator of Fishes Ted Pietsch will offer insights into the history and future of these collections, while Collections Managers David Giblin and Katherine Maslenikov show off treasures. Limited to 30 people; so RSVP, like, now! To register and receive further information contact Carl Sander at casander@uw.edu.

FREE STUFF: We know that you all are just champing at the bit over there. We know that you're just dying to know what new shows are going to be on ABC's fall lineup. It's cool. You can relax for a bit because you can find out tonight at the Seattle Center. Okay, so, now you're thinking, "That's weird. Why would I go to the Seattle Center to find out this information?" Good question. We have the answer. ABC and a mess of other people are hosting the Summer Preview party tonight at the Fisher Pavillion at the Seattle Center. And there will be food. And you can win prizes, like tickets to see Keith Urban or Selena Gomez or Josh Grobin. And there will be previews of new TV shows.
5 pm // Seattle Center, Fisher Pavillion // FREE
OUTSIDE ON THE EASTSIDE: If you feel like you need to get out of Seattle for a bit, our neighbors on the Eastside have some pretty fun stuff going on. For instance, the City of Redmond has the kid-friendly Arts in the Parks series each Tuesday in August. Today you and the kiddos can check out Brian Waite - a trio of singing and dancing dads from Seattle. Or, if kiddie music ain't your thing but kiddie movies are, then the Bellevue is where it' at. Each Tuesday evening in August, you can catch a kid-friendly flick in Downtown Bellevue Park. Tonight they are showing The Karate Kid. It's the new one with Jackie Chan and Will Smith's kid, it's probably not as good as the original one, but the kids won't know the difference. Plus they will be accepting donations of school supplies for YouthCare. So, pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and head East.

Best known as half of the Flat Duo Jets, Dex Romweber's been keeping rockabilly alive in various permutations for ages. Now, he's keeping it in the family, fronting the Dex Romweber Duo with his sister, Sara. The two will shake the shack at Studio Seven tonight at their CD release party, and will be joined by Fox and the Law (whom we've mentioned before for their noble Kickstarter project), the Pack Mules, and the No Tomorrow Boys.
